Walt Rupert was one of the "Beaverton Outlaws" In the late 1930s, the Civil Aeronautics Authority (CAA) effectively outlawed homebuilt aircraft by halting their licensing. However, because Oregon issued its own state pilot licenses and aircraft license plates, Rupert and other local aviators defiantly continued to fly under state law despite federal pushback. Rupert's aircraft is a unique home built aircraft powered by a Salmson AD-9 engine. It is currently awaiting restoration in the hanger of the @Oregon Aviation Historical Society and Museum. Member Tim Talen will be sharing the unique history of this plane and its maker Rupert at the November Pub. As usual the mostly History Pub features the ambiance of the Axe & Fiddle, a great informative talk, Trivia, 50/50 Raffle, and the bonhomie you only get when a bunch of history nerds gather! History Pubs are every 2nd Tuesday at the Axe
