The Rockin Reveleers
They say the 3rd time is the charm - After 2 successful concerts in 2014 and 2016 at Bohemia Park, Cottage Grove's own ROCKIN' REVELEERS ARE BACK !!
But this time they will be performing songs from their original set list from 1964, (with a couple of period correct exceptions) and that includes some instrumentals like: Sleepwalk, Wipeout, Walk Don’t Run, Apache, Wild Weekend, and Pipeline. And, of course, Steve and Darryl will be singing some great rock 'n roll tunes penned or performed by such rock and roll legends and founding artists like Little Richard, Chuck Berry, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, Richie Valens, the Kingsmen, Bobby Darin, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others.
First formed in late 1962 by Darryl Wetzell & Steve Whaley on guitars and later joined by Larry Plummer on drums, the Reveleers were at the forefront of bringing Northwest rock and roll to the inhabitants of this sleepy lumber town. Cruisin' Cottage Grove's main street and turning around at the bridge and cruisin' back to Clarence Lowes A&W on east main, drag racing out of town on the straight parts of 2 lane roads, rock and roll music coming out of those little transistor radios and car speakers, weekend parties everywhere, and watching movies and making out at Morelock's drive in were all part of the coming of age in those days. But, for the Reveleer's generation, it all began with those dances upstairs at the Eagles hall, the Rodeo Barn south of town, and later at the red Boots and Sandals square dance barn on 10th street, across from the current Bohemia park. It was where the action was in town for high schooler's and even older kids. The Reveleers, who were part of all that over 50 years ago, are STILL AT IT, and they will be bringing those days back to life again in 2017…just for YOU….and for the grandkids and great grandkids. The Reveleers want all generations to appreciate where the music we love came from, and understand the times that formed their generation and their lives, so that some good can be taken away from this concert that represents all of that. Music indeed DOES transcend generations.
So bring your lawn chairs, your kids and grandkids, picnics, and be prepared to be re-united with old friends, meet some new ones. Feel free to clap your hands & shake your booty, dance on the grass, and scream and holler like the old days. (We are pretty sure you remember how!) The Reveleers will do the rest ….for the 3rd time!
